Membership Categories:

Active Members: Electric cooperatives, municipal-owned electric utilities, regional electric authorities, or joint action agencies organized under the laws of the state of Alaska with annual sales of at least 800 MWH.
*Active Member dues are based on a calculation that includes the utility’s annual retail energy sales and number of consumers.

Associate Members: Utilities or utility organizations not eligible for Active Membership but with a substantial interest in the Association.
*Associate Member dues are calculated based on annual MWH sales, with different rates for telephone cooperatives and those insured by ARECA Insurance Exchange.

Supporting Members: Individuals, partnerships, corporations, or other organizations not eligible for Active or Associate membership but with a substantial interest in the activities of Alaska Power Association
*Supporting Member dues are $500 per calendar year.

Discounted Hotel Rate:

  • Alaska Power Association members receive a discounted lodging rate at the The Lakefront Anchorage. To receive the negotiated rate, call the hotel at 1-800-544-0553 or 1-907-243-2300 and mention that you are a member of Alaska Power Association. Rates are as follows:
  • January 1 – May 14: $99
  • May 15 – September 14: $229
  • September 15 – December 31: $99

Sponsorship Packages:

Alaska Power Association offers many conferences, events and training programs throughout the year for members. Annual activities include: the Communicators Forum, APA Legislative Conference, APA Annual Membership Meeting and several youth leadership programs. With the help of corporate sponsors, the association is able to host these activities at reasonable fees so as many members as possible may take advantage of educational opportunities. Depending on the level of support, sponsor packages typically include the following benefits:
